Tesi di Laurea

A cognitive and historical linguist, Wyly focuses primarily on language as an instrument for thought, particularly in applications involving metaphor and metonymy, and in contrasts between linguistic systems operating primarily through auditory and visual channels. He has been especially engaged in contextualizing this work in the historical transitions which took place among the Anglo-Saxon, Nordic and Celtic peoples in the Early Middle Ages. He is also interested in developing research paradigms for the study of how the introduction of new multimedia technologies are revolutionizing communications among users of signed languages.

Studies which apply cognitive linguistics in such social arenas as law, politics and diplomacy, or trade and negotiation.
