The University Library purchases, organises and makes available books, journals, audio-visual materials and online resources to support teaching and research. In addition to the books selected for exam preparation, students are provided with materials to further explore scientific themes and topics relevant to courses at the University and to prepare essays and dissertations.
Journals are available from the first year of subscription.
The Library has a DVD collection in Spanish, French and English (the list of DVDs can be found by typing ‘DVD’ into the ‘Ricerca libera/Word search’ field of the online catalogue), monolingual, bilingual and thematic dictionaries, audio CDs for modular language courses and encyclopaedias for studying foreign languages.
Dissertations and internship reports are kept in the Library. Works for which the author has provided appropriate authorisation can be consulted on-site.
Online resources can be accessed by all computers on the University network.
On-site consultation of documents kept in the Library is reserved for students, teaching staff, research assistants and administrative staffof the Università della Valle d’Aosta. External scholars may request admission to consult Library documents by demonstrating their need to see specific items.
Books are located in an open-shelf system and arranged by subject, according to the Dewey Decimal Classification; journals are located in the appropriate display racks, divided by Faculty and organised in alphabetical order by title.
